Say Cheese!

It’s time to take pictures of your employees for their photo id badges. All you need to get started is a digital camera. Here are some tips we have to share on how to get great pictures for your id badges.

  • Use the same color background behind each employee
  • Solid color backgrounds work best
  • Make sure the lighting in the room stays consistent
  • Don’t shoot with the sun behind the subject
  • Take the pictures from the same distance for each subject
  • Frame each subject the same – either all horizontally or all vertically
  • Tell the subject to smile! Don’t let them think this is a mug shot.
  • Suggest ahead of time that all employees wear a company shirt or company colors
  • Designating one room for this photo shoot will produce consistent pictures

Once you have taken all of your pictures for your id badges, send them to Name-Tags.net by email, and we’ll take care of the rest of the work. Have your pictures either renamed with your employees’ names, or make a list of employees with their picture number (i.e. Janice Wright – 001.jpg). We will design the id badge layout and proofs will be emailed to you to verify that all names, titles, and photos match up. Then, within 48 hours, your images will be digitally imprinted on white plastic badges and shipped.

Your full color photo id badges come with a pin back, or are available with magnetic backings, clip backings, or lanyards. Photo id badges - simple and affordable with Name-Tags.net! Pull out your camera today!

Digital What?

Digital printing! It’s the new and improved way to make professional nametags. Although engraved nametags have a classic look, they are incomparable to the potential of digitally printed nametags.

Engraved nametags can only contain two colors: the surface color of the tag and the letter color for the design. This may be all you need, but is it all you are looking for? With digital printing, your nametags can contain a variety of colors to suit your needs.

The process of digital printing integrates inkjet printing, heat, and pressure to create unique multicolor nametags. Your nametags can be printed in volume or one at a time. This will come in handy when you only need to order a few name badges after your initial order.

Digital imprinting offers a greater use of creativity when designing nametags. Not only are there more colors, but also more typestyles and artwork. We cannot print every color imaginable, but we can approximate colors that are sure to satisfy. Your quality art will be crafted into a unique name badges that will enhance your professional image.

Is Bigger Better?

When it comes to name tags, bigger can be better, but you don’t need your employees wearing a billboard to get the point across. So as you are looking for new name tags, remember how size can be an important design factor. Consider these points when determining what size fits your company best:

  • Do you have a logo?
  • Where will your logo be positioned? To the side? Top or bottom? Background?
  • Are you including both first and last name?
  • How long is the average name?
  • Will you include a title or nickname?

Also keep in mind who will be wearing the name tags and who will be viewing the tags. Are the name badges for your staff on the customer floor, trade show booth, in the office, or for sales people in the field? Depending on the environment, you want to make sure your name tags are visible but not weighing your employees down. Let your company logo stand out, but make sure the font size of the name is large enough to be the first part of the name tag to catch the eye.

Name-Tags.net offers a variety of name tag sizes with different heights and widths to fit your needs. Custom sizes and shapes are also available with full color name tags and engraved plastic name tags.

Custom Creations

When you think of a name tag, what comes to mind? Probably the standard white background with black letters. If that’s the case, then it’s no wonder if you also think nametags are boring!

It’s time to start thinking outside the box when it comes to name tags – literally!

Our name tags come in a wide variety of shapes, not just the standard rectangle. Do you sell real estate for living? Consider a house-shaped nametag. Are you a veterinarian? Go with a paw-print-shaped nametag. A dentist? We even have a tooth-shaped nametag! With so many options to choose from, it’s easy to make your nametag stand out.

Selecting a unique shape isn’t the only way to spruce up your name tag, however. Color is an essential element when it comes to designing an effective, eye-catching nametag. Many people choose to limit their palette to their company’s colors, which is certainly a safe way to go. But the possibilities are nearly endless when you look at what we have available, especially if you select our Full Color Plastic Name Tag. We use digital imprinting to recreate your multicolor design, whether you’re printing one or two name tags or one hundred name tags.

One last consideration is size. You don’t want the nametag to be too big or too small. That’s where our skilled graphic design team comes in. They’ll help you pick just the right type, size, and color to create the best nametag possible. And with each member of our team held personally responsible for your complete satisfaction, you don’t have to worry about getting a name tag that you don’t like. Just consider some of these client testimonials:

Size Matters

There are several things to consider when deciding what size your nametag should be. After all, the goal is to make the most impact in the shortest amount of time.

The first – and most important – is the wearer’s name. Are you going to be using both the wearer’s first and last names? Remember, the name tag will need to be big enough regardless of how long the wearer’s name is. Are you also planning to include the wearer’s job title or any other information?

The second is your company’s logo. You want it to be large enough so that it can easily be seen and identified but you do not want it to overshadow the wearer’s name. Once you’ve determined the correct size for your logo, you need to consider its placement on the name tag. Should it be at the top or bottom? On the right or left side?

The third is the nametag’s visibility. Is the wearer attending a meeting or a trade show? Is she making a sales call? Is he a waiter? A real estate agent? A nurse? There is an appropriately sized name tag for each of these situations.

The fourth is the nametag’s shape. While this may seem a minor consideration, a unique shape can lend just the right amount of whimsy or seriousness to a name tag. Both our plastic engraved name tags and full color plastic name tags can be custom sized to give your nametag a personal touch.

And last, but not least, is the fun stuff – font and color! Our metal name tags and plastic engraved name tags come in a broad selection of color pairs, while our full color plastic name tags can be digitally imprinted with your full color logo. We also offer a number of different writing styles designed to complement your shape and color choices.

Who knew how much care and thought could go into choosing a name tag? Well, we did! And now that you know, too, you can use these guidelines to make the right choice when choosing your next name tag.

Join us next post when we’ll be talking about what, exactly, keeps your nametag where it should be. Until then, remember that…

Name Tags 101: The Basics

I know what you’re thinking. “A blog about name tags!? How much can there be to say about name tags?” But you’d be surprised. In the 23 years that we’ve been in business, we’ve learned a lot about the ins and out of the nametag industry. This blog is a way of sharing that information with you.

Let’s start with the basics – name tag materials. What are name tags made out of? We offer three standard choices: Metal Name Tags, Plastic Engraved Name Tags, and Full Color Plastic Name Tags. Each option has its own appeal.

Our metal name tag, for example, has a brushed finish and is available in gold, silver, bronze, and white. It’s made of light-weight aluminum and has rounded corners. This makes the metal name tag ideal for office or corporate settings, where style is of the utmost importance.

Our plastic engraved name tag, on the other hand, is perfect for more casual situations and comes in a greater variety of shapes and sizes. Its two-color finish can even be given a brushed gold or silver look for added gravitas.

Last but not least is our full color plastic name tag, which – like the plastic engraved name tag – can easily be custom shaped. But instead of using just a surface and a core color, the name tag is digitally imprinted with your full color logo, giving it a vibrant attractiveness for the same cost as a 12 color badge!

Regardless of which nametag you choose, however, you can be sure you’ll receive a high-quality product made of only the finest materials. And each member of our team is personally responsible for ensuring that your order is completed correctly and delivered on time – every time.
